The scenic drive offers inspiring views of the surrounding natural wonders and the daily activities of the local people. The drive takes around eight hours to reach Gongor Khola which is the starting point of the trek.
Day 4: Trek to Simigaun [2000m/6560ft] [4-5 hrs Trek]We start to trek from Gongor Khola, following the trail that goes over the normal path before ascending and descending through the dense forest filled with rhododendron, oaks and pine trees. We will continue to walk along the river bank and then cross the suspension bridge before climbing up a steep uphill that leads to the village of Simigaun that is largely inhabited by Sherpa people.
Day 5: Trek to Dovan [2850m/9348ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]From Simigaun, we will follow the trail that passes through additional Sherpa villages. With magnificent views of Gaurishankar just above the Rolwaling Valley, we continue to follow the trail that heads through a beautiful pine forest before making a climb on to a rocky ridge. A gradual descent from the top of the ridge will lead us to Rolwaling Khola and then towards Dovan.
Day 6: Trek to Beding [3690m/12103ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]Leaving Dovan, we will continue to walk along the bank of Rolwaling Khola. We walk through dense forest filled with rhododendron and pines trees with the stunning views of Gaurishankar. After crossing the suspension bridge we will gently ascend to an open plan area where the Sherpa village of Bedding is situated.
Day 7: Trek to Na Village [4180m/13710ft] [3-4hrs Trek]Today we will have a short and easy trekking day. From Bedding, we will make an easy gradient through fir trees. As the valley becomes broader and flatter, we continue our trek to reach Na Village. Na is scattered village where there are plenty of tea houses and offers good camping options.
Day 8: Rest at Na Village for acclimatization and local hike.Acclimatization is very essential in higher altitudes. Hence, we will take a day rest at Na Village for acclimatization. Besides, Na provides a couple of good day hike options. We can head up the valley to a small kharka and follow the trail to Yalung Peak Base Camp which is five hours return trip. Or, we can climb to the end of Tsho Rolpa lake for the views of Kang Nachago above Na which takes four hours for a return trip.
Day 9: Trek to Kabuk at Tsho Rolpa Lake [4560m/14956ft] [4-5 hrs Trek]We start our trek by climbing a decent gradient to a bridge over the Tsho Rolpa outflow. We follow the main trail that ascends an ablation valley to the south. Along the trail, we pass through Chhukyima where there are a couple of teashops that are run by locals of Na Village. Continuing on our route, we trek towards the end of the valley and climb a steep uphill for a magnificent view of the lake and surrounding peaks. A gradual descent from there leads us to Kabuk.
Day 10: Trek to Drolambu Glacier [4880m/16006ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]We start early today because our trail leads through the crossing of the glacier which is best before the sun gets stronger. We cross the plateau to the further eastern corner above the glacier before descending a loose earth trail towards the southern edge of Trakarding Glacier. From here the trail climbs up to reach the northern side of the glacier. Once on the north side, we follow the trail that leads to the snout of Drolambu Glacier.
Day 11: Trek to Tashi Cape via Tashi Lapcha Pass [5755m/18876ft] [6-7 hrs Trek]We make an early start for the crossing of the challenging Tashi Lapcha Pass. Following the trail that goes over the glacier, we climb a natural ramp that heads for the crossing of the pass. The pass is a rocky ridge often snow-covered and icy. We have magnificent views of surrounding peaks from the top of the pass. From the top of the pass, the high camp is beneath an overhanging rock-face about 100 m down from the summit.
Day 12: Rest/Acclimatization day at Tashi CapeAcclimatization is very essential for ensuring the successful climb to the summit of Parchamo Peak. Any kind of mental and physical sickness can arise due to lack of acclimatization. Thus, today we will spend our day making necessary preparations for climbing the summit of Parchamo Peak the following day.
Day 13: Summit Parchamo Peak [6187m/20300ft] and back to Ngole [5110m/16760ft] [9-10 hrs Climb]Today is the day we were desperately waiting for. We will make an early start with a vision to reach the summit before midday, as the strong winds afternoon can create obstacles for climbing the summit. We will climb northeast over the scree beneath the rock wall of Tengi Ragi Tau. Following the footsteps and guidance of our experienced climbing experts, we will climb the snow slopes over the ridge and overcome several technical sections before heading towards the summit. Once at the top we are rewarded with magnificent views of Cho Oyu, Amadablam, Thamserku, Kusum Kangaru and other surrounding mountains. After spending some quality time at the top we will descend and head back to reach Ngole.
Day 14: Trek from Ngole to Thyangbo Kharka [4320m/14169ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]After having achieved the summit of Parchamo Peak, we will follow the trail that descends down from the rocky slopes of Ngole. We will continue to descend vigorously down to reach Thyangbo Kharka. Thyangbo Kharka has a few tea houses and good camping sites.
Day 15: Trek from Thyangbo Kharka to Namche Bazaar [3450m/11316ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]From Thyangbo Kharka we follow an easy two-hour trail towards Thame. From Thame, we walk the trail along Bhote-Khosi River. Descending gently towards Phunki Tenga, we continue on our route by crossing a bridge over Dudh Koshi. Passing through several villages and teahouses along the route finally reaches Namche Bazaar – The Sherpa Capital.
Day 16: Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla [2800m/9184ft] [5-6 hrs Trek]The last day of our trek leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. The trek is pleasant, except for few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote- Koshi River crossing it three times. The last uphill climb of 45 minutes will bring us to Lukla for our overnight stay.
Day 17: Fly from Lukla to KathmanduWe will take an early morning flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu. Enjoy the scenic mountain flight after the wonderful achievement of Parchamo Peak summit.
