Travelling from India to Nepal
Nepal is landlocked country, hence sea access is not possible. Hence there are two ways you can travel from India to Nepal. One is flight from New Delhi (Approx 2 hrs flight). Several airlines like Air India, Indigo, Vistara, Nepal Airlines have regular flight between New Delhi (India) and Kathmandu (Nepal).
Second option is train + bus travel. Regular train services are available between New Delhi and Gorakhpur. Then take jeep or local bus to Sunauli (India-Nepal) border approx 3 hrs ride. Clear immigration at both the side and take bus to Kathmandu (approx 13 hrs drive)

Visa: All except Indian citizens needs visa to enter Nepal. You can get visa from nearby Embassies/Consulates of Nepal Government stationed abroad or get Tourist Visa upon arrival at entry point. Please carry couple of passport size photographs, original passport (with min 6 month validity) and US$ in cash.

Train Service in Nepal: There is no train service in Nepal except an obscure branch line from India which are of limited interest to travelers.

Travel to Nepal from India (By Flight)
Several airlines like Nepal Airlines, Air India, Indigo, Spice Jet, Vistara connects Kathmandu with cities in India (like Delhi, Varanashi, Mumbai, Kolkata etc) on daily basis. The flight runs almost every hour.
Travel to Nepal from (Delhi) India (By Train+Bus)
This is a easy but long, cheap and adventurous journey from India to Nepal which takes almost 36 hrs to reach Kathmandu. First board an train from Delhi to Gorakhpur. Then take local bus or jeep to Sunauli (India-Nepal border), clear both side immigration and take local bus to Kathmandu or other cities (like Pokhara, Chitwan in Nepal).
